Understanding your intentional energy is a game-changer. It allows you to show up and be present in your current situation. It allows you to listen to your soul and not let society of other people’s opinions or perceptions guide yours. You own your energy.
Currently, I am in the middle of getting my ELI-MP certification. This certification will allow me to give an energy assessment to clients and then debrief them of their results. In true training form, before I can be certified, I have to debrief a handful of peers and have them debrief me. I am sure you can guess where this is going… remember that post I did where I said I went into coaching to help others? This assessment and learning have rocked my world.
This training has opened my own eyes and allowed me to really understand how I am showing up energetically daily. I have been through a couple of peer de-briefs and I have also given a few to others. The whole time the piece that always comes out of them is that we get to choose how we want to show up. We get to choose how to be intentional with our energy. It is our choice!
Through our growing up and life experiences we likely have formed several perceptions about the way things should be or what we perceive as right or wrong. How many times do we intentionally challenge those thoughts in others and yet we are not always open to doing that for ourselves.
In my learning, we have defined energy in two forms, catabolic and anabolic. Catabolic energy is energy that shows up when we are under stress. It is not always bad energy. It can serve us quite well at times. But many of us get stuck in this place. We swirl from victim to conflict to victim and back to conflict. Finding it hard to get out and move forward. We can feel very angry in this place and lethargy can make it feel quite lonely.
Anabolic energy is where things happen and get done. We can find a win here. We see opportunities for ourselves. Learning to change our mindset and move toward anabolic energy is and has been a game-changer for me.
Early on I realized that I have spent a lot of wasted time in the catabolic stages. It is easy for us to fall victim to feeling like the victim. This place is comfortable. Changing would require us to shift our mindset and adjust what is causing the stress. And sometimes that is hard to do.
But anabolic energy is where the magic happens. It is where we are in our sweet spots of life. And those around us can feel that and want to have a little bit of it for themselves.
