I saw this photo the other day on social and it instantly resonated a clear picture of me. I am sure many can relate because it is pretty difficult to envision what you plan and then see it happen to the end.
What gives your life meaning? Is it what you plan or what happens along the way? I know many of us are planners or perhaps have one in our house. Some see the bumps and run and hide, others head into them full force.
In my practice, I talk a lot with clients about the wheel of life. The wheel of life allows you to grade yourself in eight areas of your life. Everything you do in life can be funneled up into one of these areas. The areas are:
- Personal Development
- Spiritual Awareness
- Fun & Enjoyment
- Relationships
- Health
- Personal Finance
- Career
- Family
Once you rate yourself in these areas, you start to visually see where you are feeling fulfilled and complete and where you may be lacking. I love this visual representation. Ideally life is going to move along smoothly the more balanced and aligned your wheel looks. If you are a two in one area and a seven in another, your wheel is going to feel stuck or hard to move at times, just like life.
Print this off. Dive within yourself and see what is resonating with you right now. How does it feel to look at the wheel? What area is making you feel good and which area do you feel a bit sad or even upset about? And then here is the next step. One that many choose to overlook.
Make a list of habits or changes you want to make for yourself to move that number up just one notch. If we just sit in that space of being upset and do nothing, nothing will change and our anger and frustration about it will just swim back and forth. Switch lanes in the pool and try something new. Make an adjustment.
I would love to hear from you and learn more about how this landed. When we are connected to our life and what brings it meaning, it makes it way easier to get through the hard stuff. When we sit in the place of being upset and not able to make a move and then just swim back and forth there, it is time to ask for some help. Let me help you create movement. This is what a life coach does.
